The linguist M.W. Sugathapala de Silva (1931-1980) was a leading figure in the study of South Asian linguistics, producing works on the Sinhala, Sanskrit, Telugu and Vedda languages. AISLS is very grateful to his heirs for granting us permission to make available for personal use only a pdf copy of his Colloquial Sinhalese Reader (1971). This work remains very useful for non-native speakers seeking to learn Sinhala. A few hard copies also remain available from his heirs through www.amazon.co.uk.
