This site provides a single searchable repository for digitized collections held at archives, libraries and other research institutions across the United States. It includes entries from the Hathi Trust, the Internet Archive, and Biodiversity Heritage Library, which are also covered in this guide. A search for “Sri Lanka” yields over 40,000 results, including thousands of images and texts, along with over one hundred moving images and several audio files. A search for “Ceylon” yields over 30,000 results with much overlap, but also some unique items, including ephemera in unusual collections like the W.E.B. Du Bois Papers and a dinner menu collection. A large percentage of the collection related to Sri Lanka comes from the National Museum of Natural History, with around one hundred slides of fish specimens, and over 25,000 photographs of plant specimens, most originating from the Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya.
