Museum of Religious Freedom

Museum of Religious Freedom

This virtual museum is dedicated to presenting the past and present conditions of Sri Lanka’s multi-religious people and places. Working across a timeline of key events over the past two centuries, the museum currently has three main online galleries on the topics of “Religion and the Colonial State,” “Ethnic Conflict and Religious Harm,” and “Religion and the Law.” These include images and documents as well as recordings of testimonials from Sri Lankans about ethnic and religious violence. There is also a video exhibition documenting syncretic and contested religious sites around Sri Lanka. The virtual museum has plans for further expansion, including an online archive.
