This database provides a single portal to search the collections of the Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen (Tropenmuseum, Afrika Museum and Museum Volkenkunde) and that of the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam. Filtering for objects from Sri Lanka yields over 2,500 items. The range of objects is diverse, spanning the eighteenth to twenty-first centuries. The collections include everyday household items and tools, jewelry, religious objects, masks and other folk theater accoutrements, print and palm-leaf books, and much more. Unique strengths of the collections include boat models, woven baskets, boxes, mats and textiles, kitchenware, Arabic coins, puppets and marionettes and their clothing, twentieth-century photographs, and paintings from the 1980s. High resolution images can be ordered for a fee.
