This open-source library has a collection of classical Sinhala literature that consists of dozens of prose texts on Buddhist topics and Sri Lankan history, along with a variety of poetry, including jātaka retellings, the Sigiriya gī, sandeśa kāvya, haṭan kavi and more. Many of these texts include modern commentaries. Some volumes are difficult to find even in university libraries, such as Paraṅgi Haṭana, Vēdēha Kathāva, Kav Miṇi Koňḍola, and the compilation Kav Saňgarāva. The uploading of print books into Sinhala Unicode can create transcription errors or odd formatting in how they are displayed on the webpages, with poetic quatrains often collapsed into single lines. It is recommended that they still be checked against print editions if possible. The benefit of this system is that the entire site is searchable, allowing instances of a particular word or phrase to be isolated across a large swath of Sinhala literature and its commentaries. This library is therefore a useful tool for translation work and large-scale linguistic or literary research.
