This digital library is part of the Tamil Virtual Academy based in Chennai. It contains tens of thousands of books, periodicals, and manuscripts. Most items are in Tamil, but many are also in English, with publication dates ranging from the eighteenth to twenty-first centuries. While most documents pertain to Tamil communities in India, there are also materials relevant to Sri Lanka. Searches for “இலங்கை” or “யாழ்ப்பாணம்” or “Ceylon” yield results in Tamil and English. The Tamil Digital Library also has works by early-modern Sri Lankan Tamil authors like Cekarācasēkaraṉ, Ciṉṉattampi Pulavar, and Varatarāca Kavirācar. This library supplements searches for the same authors on Noolaham by including different editions or works that Noolaham lacks.
