A search of this library’s online collection for “Sri Lanka” yields 60 results, all photographs. Some consist of early-twentieth century colonial photography, but most come from the Gairola Indian Art & Architecture Image Collection, taken by the Indian art historian C. Krishna Gairola in 1973. These pictures depict archeological features in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, but add novel artistic interpretations with the use of close-ups and color filters. There are also several close-ups of the painted frescoes at Sigiriya and the Buddhist cave temples of Dimbulagala and Dambulla.
